Why Clean It Before It Sits

Lake grime, sunscreen, food and moisture left on a boat all season only get harder to remove after months in storage. Cleaning it first means it comes out ready next spring.

  • Hull and gelcoatWashed and waxed so the waterline and lake film come off now, not next spring.
  • Vinyl and seatingCleaned and UV-protected before it sits under a cover.
  • Decks and carpetScrubbed and rinsed clean.
  • OxidationChalky, faded gelcoat machine-polished and waxed. Quoted from your photos.

Boat Cleaning Before Storage Questions

Don't see yours? Text David and you'll have an answer the same day.

Should I clean my boat before winter storage?

Yes. Grime, sunscreen and moisture left on the hull, vinyl and carpet are harder to remove after months in storage. A wash and wax before it goes away means it comes out clean in spring.

How much does it cost?

A basic wash is $10 per foot and a wash & wax is $20 per foot. A 22-foot pontoon wash & wax is about $440. Oxidation removal is quoted from photos.

Do you winterize the engine?

No. We clean and protect the boat. Engine and plumbing winterization should be done by your marina or a marine mechanic.

Do you come to the boat?

Yes. At the dock or on the trailer at Vallecito Lake, along County Roads 500 and 501, and around Bayfield, Durango and Ignacio.
